Bristol Stool Scale reference
Shape descriptions often relate to the Bristol Stool Scale (types 1–7), from separate hard lumps to entirely liquid. This scale is a communication tool—not a diagnosis by itself.
When to see a doctor
Seek professional care for persistent changes, blood in stool, severe pain, fever, dehydration, unexplained weight loss, or black/tarry stools. This website cannot detect emergencies from a photo alone.
